The first few times I played barefoot, but my feet hurt so much that I thought I'd just wear shoes and deal with getting a new mat when I wore it out.
But now, I think my feet have gotten use to playing (plus I have a padded mat now), and I can play barefoot again.
If my feet start bothering me again, I might get some of those yoga shoes, and see if they help.
What about you?

I used my stocking feet on a padded mat this last week. I know you aren't supposed to but I usually live in my stocking feet.
What are yoga shoes?

I have a feeling I'll be doing mine with socked feet ... or maybe even some little socks I have which have 'no skids' on the bottoms ... they'll probably work pretty good.

I wear socks most of the time, but if my feet are getting sore or I'm trying a 5 or 6 footer, I wear some ballet shoes I have lying around. They provide a little bit of support without tearing up the pad, and the leather soles make a little bit of a "click" sound when I step, making it easier to judge the 8th notes.

Well, I said that I was going to play with socked feet and I did ... but boy did I feel it the next morning! The mat I have has the 1" padding but they still were hurting from it - I'm definitely going to need to find something that'll offer some sort of support but something that won't damage my mat.

I have the high density foam that I got on Ebay.

Here's one of his current auctions, although looks like the price went up a couple of bucks. I got mine for less then $40 with shipping for both pads. This is the really good foam, so figure the foam itself is worth the $40. Anyway, I played for several hours yeasterday with no feet problem (on and off of corse as the poor heart just can't take it for longer then 10 minutes). Feet were very comfy though.

I bought some featherweight nike running shoes from Kohl's the other day. Personally I don't know how they could ever be used for running since they're really flat, and soft, but whatever...I think they'll be ok for ddr without tearing up my mat.
Once I learn how to use my digital camera, I'll post a picture.

I tried bare feet the first night and it wasn't too bad...Last night I tried socks and it seemed better. I bet my feet are going to hurt after awhile though. For now, the socks work!
